PIMS DU signed MoU with Medical Faculty of Karolinska Institute, Sweden, the university which awards Nobel Proze in Medicine. The MoU shall facilitate regular staff student exchange between Dr. Balasaheb Vikhe Patil Rural Medical College and Medical Faculty of Karolinska Institute, Sweden. After receiving the initial funding for Planning trip, the co-operation has received funding under the Linnaeus Palme Scholarship Programme of approximately Rs 15 Lakhs.
This collaboration aims at undertaking staff and student exchange program, exposing medical students to the best of teaching methodologies at both the institutions.
The collaboration provides an opportunity to discuss and understand the curriculum, initiate new teaching learning methodologies and differences in the patient care approach. This was particularly essential as the dynamics of health care, education and research in both the countries differs.
The exchange shall facilitate interactions between the institutional and administrative heads, Professors/teachers imparting medical education. This co-operation shall also provide an insight into the integrated community learning approaches used as an effective tool for training of undergraduate and post-graduate students both at Karolinska Institute and Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences – Deemed to be University.
