PIMS – DU has signed a MoU Oregon University System IE3 Global Internship Programme, Portland State University, USA offering the incoming students an opportunity to undertake Internship Programme at Center for Social Medicine in the area of public health.

Internship tasks include the following (assignments will vary depending on host organization’s current needs): (general internship description)

• To assist in medical, nursing, rehabilitative care Rural Health Centers, Mobile Medical Units, Out reach camps
• To shadow the expert doctors, nurses, physiotherapists etc of a tertiary level multi-specialty 900 bedded teaching hospital
• To assist in planning, execution, monitoring and evaluation of social health and development projects mentioned below in rural and marginalized communities
• To undertake short and long term teaching and research assignments in the field of public health, rural health, social and community development, gender equality etc.
• To assist directly in the ongoing multi sectoral social health and development projects and programmes of CSM

3. Tribal Health & Development Project
4. Rural E-Health Centre
5. School Health, Hygiene & Environment Program ( SHAPE)
6. Out-reach Health & Medical Camps
7. Women Empowerment Programs
8. Prevention of HIV/AIDS projects for FSW, MSM and Migratory Population
9. Rural & Community Development Project
10. Capacity building programs for community groups

Number of positions to be available per term: maximum 10 students

Start dates: any US academic term (approx. Sept-Dec / Jan-Mar/ Apr-Jun/ Jun-Aug)*

Minimum duration of internship: 10 weeks minimum-preferred length of internship
