School Of Public Health & Social Medicine - Post Grduate Program (M.P.H - Master of Public Health)
Background:
The Master of Public Health – a two year fulltime postgraduate degree program, which is recognized by UGC, Ministry of HRD, Government of India, is developed in the context of positioning qualified and skilled professionals who can execute and monitor National & International Public Health Programs such as WHOs “Heath for All”, Government of India's “National Health Mission (NHM)” and other National Public Health Programs.
This program has been specially designed to meet the ever increasing demand for well trained personnel with advanced & appropriate skills and knowledge to plan and implement innovative Public Health Schemes and Programs at regional, national and international level.
The broad objective of Master of Public Health (MPH) programme at Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences - Deemed to be University, is to train human resources in the science of public health, with a firm understanding of the determinants of health and the public health system in the country, the community context, the determinative influences of globalization, urbanization, global and national policies and a strong foundation in research methodology.
The specific objectives of the program include:- To equip students to have an overall perspective on public health
- To create good programme managers in public health
- To inculcate interdisciplinary approach to problem solving skills in public health
- To encourage interdisciplinary research in public health
- To improve leadership skills in public health
Students will have:
1. Hands-on experience of handling public health projects and programs
2. Experience of independently designing, executing, and observing urban, rural and tribal health care delivery systems and innovative public health interventions
Placement Opportunities:
Successful candidates are placed in Medical & Public Health Institutes of Central and State Governments, Local Bodies (Corporation, Municipality, ZP), Non-Governmental, Private Organizations and International Organizations (WHO, UNICEF, UNFPA, etc.) in the following capacities.
- Public Health Administrators / Manager / Consultant
- Academicians, Researchers & Social Scientists.
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with minimum 50% (45% for SC/ST/OBC) Marks. (MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, B.Sc (Nursing), B.Pharm, BPH, B.Sc in Agriculture, Physics, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Psychology, Home Sciences, B.A in Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities, Commerce and Management etc.,)
- All foreign or international university degree holders should submit their equivalence certificate from Association of Indian University (AIU) or respective statutory bodies like MCI, DCI, INC etc

Program Structure & Evaluation Pattern:
The course is structured on Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) as per the UGC guidelines and follows both Semester End Examination (University) and Comprehensive and Continuous Internal Assessment (Institutional).
