Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy Department
Introduction
CardioRespiratory Physiotherapy is an area of physiotherapy that specializes in the prevention, rehabilitation and improvement in quality of life in patients who are compensated with the diseases and injuries in the heart and lungs. This field deals in managing the patients from Critical Care Unit (ICU, CCU, RICU, MICU, CRU), IPD’s (Medical/ Surgical) and OPD’s (Rehabilitation/ Fitness). This field has a comprehensive work in the area of cardiac, respiratory, vascular, oncology, fitness, burn and wound care.
Goals
- To develop Physiotherapist with the immense knowledge in all the dimensions of Cardio-Respiratory area.
- To develop skills in patient evaluation, cardio respiratory fitness testing (laboratory testing/ field testing), Pulmonary Function Testing, Cardiac Rehabilitation and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
- To promote the use of evidence based practice in rehabilitation for uphold Activity in daily livings(ADL’s)
Objectives of Undergraduate program:
- To provide excellence education in the field of Cardio-Respiratory Physiotherapy.
- Be able to select strategies for cure, care & prevention and for maximum possible functional independence of a patient at home, work place & in community.
- Be able to execute the effective Physiotherapeutic measures with appropriate clinical reasoning to improve patient’s condition.
Objectives of Post-graduate program:
- To develop clinical reasoning that incorporates theoretical concept with evidence-based practice in he field of cardio-pulmonary physiotherapy.
- To be able to inculcate recent advances in clinical practice.
- To promote the necessitate research in the field of Cardio-Respiratory physiotherapy.
- Be able to impart knowledge for training the under graduate students.
